“buntkicktgut” stands for sports, fun, and a peaceful co-existence of different cultures since 1997. It was originally founded to give a perspective for traumatised refugee children and has developed into a major social project for children of all kinds of social backgrounds. Today, around 2,000 children and teenagers from different cultures participate in the continuously running street football league and the various events of “buntkicktgut”.
Social competence, the ability to manage conflicts without violence as well as integration are the core themes of “buntkicktgut”. The project has been awarded numerous prizes - for example by German Football Association DFB and former German President Johannes Rau.
Children and teenagers are the centre of the intercultural street football league. The continuously running league allows for conveying values in a sustainable and natural way. The permanent exchange with the teenagers helps them finding their identity and supports their personal development. Besides the physical activities, a major focus is placed on the commitment and the active participation of the children and teenagers: they take over responsibility for example as referees, team coaches or as members of the league council. Apart from that "buntkicktgut" has ist own editorial team which covers the events within the league.
In addition to regular league operation, “buntkicktgut” is also active in urban social work. So-called “streetfootball-workers” (mostly teenagers) offer regular open football trainings in various Munich districts. District delegates are overseeing the social matters of the children beyond the football pitch like for example problems at school or with their families.
The Sky Foundation supports street work in Munich Riem. Furthermore, the support of the Sky Foundation ensured the league operation in Dortmund for the next twelve months and saved the street football league in the home of the German champion from bankruptcy.
